It was a crisp, bright morning - invigorating, and the kind that makes you glad you are alive!
On our way to meet our mules, we met a family of other four legged animals!! Another special moment on the trip. We grabbed a strong coffee from the pizzaria (!) lodge at Bryce Canyon National Park, and checked in with the mule-trek desk.
We met our guide for the morning - John Henry, I felt a little under-dressed for the ride, although the the character he was didn't make you feel that way. A real live cowboy.
So it was off on the trek into the sunrise - John Henry guiding the way - easy until the very steep descent started. Scary fun when the mule enjoyed walking along the very edge of the track... it was then I realised I had to show who was boss! I didn't seem to do that too well, anyway living life on the edge so to speak!
Oh dear, my posture is not very good, but the view was fantastic, I think I concentrated on that too much!
A shot of some of the amazing natural sculptures in Bryce Canyon, from the beginning of the trek.
No we didn't bump into a cowboy! This is our tour guide up close.
Mounted on a mule, 9am in the morning, surrounded by such huge beauty... how lucky are we???
Along the top of the ridge, my mule taking it's time. You can just see the top of Ian's mule - well, the ears, anyway!
The photographs really don't capture the beauty and majestic scene, but this should give you a taste of the grandeur of these rocks.
This formation is called "The Naked Lady" - can you see her?
Towards the end of our trek, John-Henry turned into a photographer - here we are, mounted on our trusty steeds. After dismounting, we were asked where we were going to next - at which point, Ian stuck both hands in the air and shouted "Vegas!". I think he was happy to be able to say that.
Vegas approaching, good grief we were actually going there, yet again on the trip we pinch ourselves...., we are experiencing Vegas! But, anything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, there endeth that blog folks..............!!
This was our hotel - The Luxor, in the shape of a gigantic pyramid 20 stories high. It all sounds a bit much, but when you're in Vegas you believe anything can happen... more about that later! Here's some pretty photos in the meantime.
